MotoGP World Championship 2023

MotoGP World Championship 2023 : With just over three weeks to go before the opening race in Portimão, excitement and anticipation are growing in the hearts of fans all over the world. To prepare for this new campaign, MotoGP.com offers you a selection of landmark events that could occur throughout 2023.

MotoGP World Championship 2023

Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) and Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) both have the opportunity to make MotoGP™ history by winning with three different factories. The Spaniard, who has won in the past with Suzuki and Yamaha, will seek to triumph with Aprilia. Meanwhile, the Australian rider has tasted success previously with Honda and Ducati.

With 59 victories, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) can become the second most successful rider in premier class history if he manages to surpass Giacomo Agostini and his 68 triumphs. Moreover, the number 93 rider is knocking on the door of the Top 3 for wins across all classes. With a total of 85 successes, the Honda man is only five wins away from his compatriot Angel Nieto, which would make him the most successful Spanish rider in the history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

MotoGP World Championship 2023: If the eight-time World Champion was to add another World Championship to his name in 2023, the Cervera native would join Valentino Rossi with nine World Championships. Joan Mir, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) are also in contention for a second MotoGP

The only rookie on the 2023 grid, Augusto Fernandez (GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3) has the opportunity this season to become the first rookie race winner in the premier class since Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) at the 2021 Styrian GP. In the MotoGP™ era, only the “Martinator”, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa have achieved this feat.

Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) can become the first Japanese rider to win in the premier class since Makoto Tamada at the 2004 Japanese Grand Prix. However, the Honda rider can still make headlines by becoming the first Japanese rider to step on a premier class podium in over a decade, with Katsuyuki Nakasuga the last at Valencia in 2012.

Yamaha behind schedule despite criticial engine decision

After a chastening 2017 MotoGP season, the stakes couldn’t have been much higher for Yamaha in winter testing, with just nine days of on-track running for the team to ensure the ’18 version of its M1 didn’t share the same characteristics as its ill-fated predecessor.

Despite an encouraging start at Sepang at the end of January, by the time Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales wrapped up three days of testing at the all-new Buriram circuit in Thailand in February it looked for all the world as if the two works Yamaha riders were suffering from the exact same issues that blighted their campaign in 2017.

Valentino Rossi says he hopes he is proven “wrong” to be pessimistic about Yamaha’s chances in this weekend’s Aragon MotoGP round.

Yamaha is on the cusp of its worst-ever premier class losing streak, as the Aragon Grand Prix would mark the 23rd race in succession it has failed to win if neither Rossi nor teammate Maverick Vinales can triumph.

Despite his poor run of recent form, Vinales was in a buoyant mood when addressing the media on Thursday, claiming Yamaha had made a step forward with its long-standing electronics issues in a private test at Aragon in the last week of August.

“We focused on a lot on trying to set up the electronics for my riding style, and that helps so much, because I can ride my own way, I can do the laptimes,” he commented. “That was the only change we did.

MotoGP 2023 : Rossi said at Misano that Yamaha could even have to consider a change in engine configuration for the future to keep up with rivals Honda and Ducati.

But the Italian was keen to emphasise that the engine is not the entirety of the issue for Yamaha and that the M1’s electronics can still be improved.

“The engine is a part of our problem, but unfortunately it’s not only the engine,” he said.

“It’s true that with these regulations, you cannot modify [the engine] during the season. But for me a lot of things come also from the electronics, and you can work on the electronics during the season, so it’s not a problem of the rules.

“For me we have to improve the engine, but it’s a part of our problem, not the total.”

‘The law of life: A younger team-mate will beat you’

Great rival Valentino Rossi lasted until his 14th premier-class year before finally being defeated by a team-mate over a complete season, Jorge Lorenzo in 2013. Rossi previously lost out to the Spaniard in 2010, when he broke his leg.

Injuries have also marred Marquez’s attendance over the past three years. In 2020 he only entered one race, but he still managed to finish as the top Honda in both 2021 and 2022 despite skipping 12 rounds and riding – in the words of team manager Alberto Puig – with “only one-arm-and-a-half”.

If Honda and Yamaha knew the risk involved, and the level they were willing to go to just to be better than the other guys was something else.

MotoGP will make its debut in India and Kazakhstan in 2023 on a calendar that boasts more races

MotoGP World Championship 2023
MotoGP World Championship 2023 : The India MotoGP race is part of the provisional 2023 MotoGP calendar, scheduled for September 22-24 at the Buddha International Circuit.

Days after confirming MotoGP’s plans to race in India, championship organizer Dorna Sports has now announced that the race will make its debut in 2023. The Grand Prix of Bharat, as it will be called, will be held at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). The race has been given the September 22-24 slot on the provisional calendar, subject to the contract and circuit homologation being finalised.

Government support for MotoGP World Championship 2023 India race

There have been efforts to bring top-level two-wheeler racing to the BIC before, with plans to host a round of the World Superbike Championship there in the mid-2010s. However, after several delays, those plans were dropped. Rather infamously, the F1 Indian GP was also cancelled due to tax disputes and financial issues.

But in the years that have passed, India has seen a big push for motorsport with several new circuits being built and a number of international championships coming to the country. Moreover, there is staunch support from the UP government to make the Indian MotoGP round a success. The event is estimated to generate as many as 50,000 jobs, with 5,000 jobs for the race weekend itself.

“It’s a matter of great pride for Uttar Pradesh to host such a global event. Our government will provide full support to MotoGP Bharat,” said Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

BS6 Phase 2- A New Beginning after the COVID-19 pandemic

BS6 Phase 2

BS6 Phase 2: After implementation of BS6 in 2020, a second round of emission norms is slated to follow in quick succession, with CAFE 2 in 2022 and RDE the year after.

BS6 Phase 2: To begin with, all BS6-compliant vehicles are required to be run on engines with lower NOx and Particulate Matter (harmful pollutants) emissions which are within the prescribed limits. To achieve this, automakers use either Lean NOx Trap (LNT) or Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). This also ensures a clean and efficient way of burning fuel with lower levels of pollutants in the environment.

Now, what is the difference between BS6 and BS6 2.0? Well, to put it simply, the emissions norms will become more stringent. While BS6 required cars to be tested in labs, BS6 version 2 will need cars to meet the prescribed emission norms even in real-world conditions, while also when being tested in laboratories. To implement this, the engines will have to be upgraded and installed with an onboard self-diagnostic device that will monitor factors like changing driving behaviour and traffic conditions in real time. BS6 Phase 2

New Tech, added cost– BS6 Phase 2

The cost of upgradation of existing petrol and diesel powertrains for BS6 Stage 2 is high, which would also result in the escalation of the ex-showroom prices. This increase in manufacturing cost will eventually be passed on to the end buyer. The 2023 Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Venue are recent examples which are BS6 2-ready and now demand a premium of up to Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
Going forward, expect carmakers to roll out new BS6 2 models or discontinue select models from their portfolio. The BS6 Stage 2 cars are likely to cost Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 more, depending upon the body style and engine capacity.BS6 Phase 2

Having made the challenging transition to BS6 in April 2020, the Indian auto sector is now looking at the next tranche of emission norms that is set to come into effect from 2022-23. Despite the tight deadline, carmakers believe that they will be able to meet the target on time. “Technically, we can do that,” said Krishnan Sundararajan, MD, Renault Nissan Tech and Business Center India, at a recent virtual conclave organized by our sister publication Autocar Professional on ‘Meeting Emission Challenges’. He added, “For BS6 Phase 2, our reaction is not as bad as it was for BS6.

  • Petrol engines to require programmed fuel injection
  • Hybrids and EVs crucial to meeting CAFE norms
  • With new emission regulations from 2022, passenger vehicles prices set to rise

The next round of regulations will kick off with the new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE 2) rules in April 2022 that will lower the permissible average CO2 levels of any carmaker’s fleet from the current 130g/km to 113g/km. The following year, Real Driving Emissions (RDE) norms will require cars to achieve emission targets even in real world conditions, as opposed to just a laboratory environment. This second phase of BS6 (or BS6.2), then, is set to make the emission limits a lot harder to scale for automakers than before.

Meeting BS6 Phase 2

Explaining the strategies to achieve the more stringent targets, Sundararajan said, “Moving from BS6.1 to BS6.2, we have a very good understanding that the technologies applied in Europe can’t be copy-pasted here. So, we have to adapt. We have taken enough time for this adaptation and we are trying to solve the problems going towards 2023.”

He continued, “We know that the areas which we have to tackle are PGM (programmed fuel injection), which is related to hardware, and (upgraded) semiconductors, which is related to software.”
For reference, programmed fuel injection controls the timing and amount of fuel injected in petrol engines, based on the input of sensors monitoring various parameters such as the throttle and crankshaft positions, engine temperature, intake temperature and pressure, oxygen content in the exhaust and so on.
“All our energy and effort is now on optimising PGM and figuring out how we are going to operate at scale, in terms of all the technologies that we want to put in BS6.2. We are working on how the cost can be managed with different innovations in PGM optimisation, like expanding the technology to more types of cars,” said Sundararajan. BS6 Phase 2
Since more stringent regulations are already in place in Europe, luxury carmakers are all set for BS6.2. “With the introduction of new engines, which we had done around 2019-20, all our cars globally are compliant with Euro 6d standards. This helps us be ready for the (BS6) Phase 2 norms already today,” said Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
However, the tighter CO2 targets are set to have a significant impact on IC (internal combustion) engines as we know them today. “Meeting the (new) CAFE requirements will obviously require us to have alternate powertrains, whether it is electric vehicles (EVs) or hybrids or something else. But it is very clear that simply the IC engine will not be enough to meet the CAFE requirements of 2022,” said Dr Pawan Goenka, the former MD and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra. BS6 Phase 2

Impact of BS6 is Rising Price for Two-wheelers

According to the rules of the central government, these days, manufacturers can only deal with BS6 phase 2 bikes. They have introduced some changes in the engine so that it will emit less-lethal gases. These manufacturers can’t use cheap carburetors rather they need to use expensive fuel engines for the engines of their bikes. As a result, the price of the two-wheelers has increased by 10-15 per cent.
Due to the introduction of new BS6 norms, the price of two-wheelers has increased by 10-15 per cent. The sale graph is also reduced due to this increasing price. This made a sharp rise in two wheeler insurance premiums and braking systems. It is compulsory for every two-wheeler owner to possess third-party insurance to safeguard themselves from untoward events like accidents, etc.

A New Beginning after the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many people discarded public transport and opted for their own vehicles. Some even purchased new vehicles to ensure their safety. Since two-wheelers are more affordable and can run smoothly on Indian roads, hence people purchased their dream bikes during this pandemic. This inspired bike manufacturers to recover from the losses that they have experienced before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yamaha MT 15 V2.0 updated with BS6 2

Yamaha appears to be readying the MT 15 V2.0 to comply with the upcoming BS6 phase 2 emission norms. A leaked document has revealed details about the OBD 2 compliant MT 15 V2.0. Notably, all new vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, will have to adhere to more stringent Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms from 1 April, 2023.

BS6 Phase 2 Compliant Yamaha MT 15 V2.0: What Is OBD 2?

According to the leaked document, Yamaha will equip the updated MT 15 with a BS6 OBD stage 2 B device – a second generation of the onboard self-diagnostic device that will monitor real-time emissions of the vehicle. In addition, it will be able to diagnose any malfunction and alert the rider about that via a warning light on the instrument console. It is to be noted that current vehicular emission regulations are based on laboratory test conditions.

BS6 Phase 2 Compliant Yamaha MT 15 V2.0: Features

Apart from the new OBD device, the MT 15 V2.0 is likely to retain its design, mechanicals, and features. However, the updated motorcycle could attract a higher premium over the on-sale model, which costs Rs 1,64,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Meanwhile, Yamaha has equipped the current model gets a bi-functional LED headlamp, digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, Y-Connect app support, upside down (USD) forks, monoshock, disc brakes at the front and rear, and ABS.

Before ‘Hrs and Hrs,’ Muni Long spent years and years working for others

65th Annual Grammy Awards 2023.

To hear Muni Long tell it, the success of her hit single “Hrs & Hrs” owes much to a coincidence of timing – and one of mistaken identity on TikTok.

It’s a love song – a celebration of a deep connection, like the one she shares with her husband. “Yours, mine, ours / I could do this for hours / Sit and talk to you for hours,” she sings, detailing various intimacies of extended duration, chaste and carnal alike. And it arrived late in 2021, after a wave of pandemic restrictions had lifted and, she says, a lot of single people were openly acknowledging their isolation, and their desire for connection.

“The song came at a time where people really were not afraid to say, ‘I want to be loved,'” she says.65th Annual Grammy Awards

Her friend, the musician and actor Bre-Z, was one of the people who connected with the song. Bre-Z and her now-wife, the makeup artist Chris Amore, used the track in a video celebrating their relationship, including scenes from her marriage proposal. And Muni Long posted it to her own TikTok account.

Because the song title (pronounced “hours and hours”) is stylized “Hrs & Hrs,” some in the LGBT TikTok community read it as an abbreviation for “hers and hers” – and a sapphic love song. That prompted rumors that Muni Long and Bre-Z were romantically involved.

Cristiano Ronaldo joins Al-Nassr FC

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a free agent following his acrimonious split with Manchester United in Novemeber, joined Al Nassr last week on a 2-1/2 year deal estimated by media to be worth more than 200 millions euros(USD 210.94 million).

Ronaldo said at his first press conference since joining Al Nassr that “in Europe my work is done”.

Cristiano Ronaldo Gets Rapturous Welcome From Al-Nassr Fans

The packed, 25,000-capacity stadium erupted when Cristiano Ronaldo, dressed in Al Nassr’s yellow and blue kit, walked on the pitch, saluting the crowd as fireworks and floodlights flashed around him.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo described himself as a “unique player” and insisted his career was not over as he received a thunderous welcome at his new club in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The Portuguese superstar, 37, said he had done all he could in Europe and was hungry for a new challenge as he was greeted by fireworks and deafening roars at Al Nassr’s Mrsool Park stadium.

Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Denies Potential Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo joins Al-Nassr FC
Ronaldo said at his first press conference since joining Al Nassr that “in Europe my work is done”.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said there is “no truth” in a report that Cristiano Ronaldo has a clause in his contract with Al-Nassr that would allow him to join the Magpies if they qualify for the Champions League. Ronaldo was unveiled by Al Nassr on Tuesday after agreeing a deal worth an estimated 200 million euros ($211 million) that ties the Portugal star to the Saudi Arabian side until June 2025. The 37-year-old striker left Manchester United by mutual consent in November after giving an explosive television interview in which he criticised Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag and the club’s hierarchy.

But a report in Spain claimed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was already thinking about a potential return to the Premier League.

The report said Ronaldo had inserted a clause in his Al Nassr deal that would allow him to join Newcastle, who are 80 percent owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, on loan if they reach next season’s Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s FIFA 23 rating slashed to lowest in 16 years after Al-Nassr move.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s FIFA 23 rating has taken a nosedive following his transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr on December 30. As reported by Sport Bible, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s updated FIFA 23 rating is now 88.
Ronaldo has long been one of the most highly rated players in the FIFA game. The Portuguese superstar made his FIFA debut in 2003, in FIFA 04, with a rating of 80. In FIFA 06, he broke into the 90s for the first time, receiving a rating of 91. FIFA 17 saw him become the best player in the game with a rating of 94. He held the crown in FIFA 18 before leveling with Lionel Messi in FIFA 19.

Al Nassr Football Club is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Riyadh. Formed in 1955, the club plays its home games at the Mrsool Park. Their home colours are yellow and blue. Al Nassr is one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, with an estimated 27 championships in all competitions.

Oops! Ronaldo calls Saudi Arabia as South Africa during Al-Nassr unveiling.

He was greeted by a sea of yellow and blue at Al Nassr’s home ground Mrsool Park, where thousands of fans turned up to witness his unveiling. Speaking at the unveiling, during which people in attendance at the press conference applauded, Ronaldo forgot what continent he is now playing in.

The evolution of football is different. For me it is not the end of my career coming to South Africa,’ he said.

‘This is why I want to change and to be honest I really don’t worry about what people say.’

‘I took my decision and I have a responsibility to change that.’

After addressing a news conference, Ronaldo was seen meeting with his new team mates in the dressing room. He then made his way onto the pitch, fully kitted out in the club’s colours.

The gathered fans loudly chanted his name as he walked around the 25,000-seater stadium signing footballs and firing them into the stands, before he was joined by his family.

“Me and my family, we want to say thank you to all of you for this support and your welcome,” an emotional Ronaldo said after being handed a microphone. “We’re going to give our best. Thank you everybody.”

Ronaldo arrives in Saudi Arabia with a vast collection of club honours after a glittering spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid from 2009-18 where he won two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League titles and three Club World Cups.

He also claimed two Serie A titles and a Copa Italia trophy in three years at Juventus before rejoining United with whom he had bagged three Premier League crowns, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League and Club World Cup.

“I’m so proud to make this big decision in my life. In Europe, my work is done,” Ronaldo told a news conference.

“I won everything, I played in the most important clubs in Europe and now it’s a new challenge in Asia.”

Ronaldo added that he had several potential suitors from all around the world following his exit from United, but chose to sign with Al Nassr because the move provided him a chance to make an impact off the pitch.

“I’m grateful to Al Nassr, for giving me this opportunity to develop football for the younger generation, for the women as well. For me, it’s a challenge, but I also feel very happy and proud,” Ronaldo said.

“I can say now, I had many opportunities in Europe, Brazil, Australia and the United States. Even in Portugal, many clubs tried to sign me, but I gave my word to this club, to develop not only football but also the other parts of this country.”

The 37-year-old batted away questions about criticism of his move to Saudi Arabia, saying, “I’m a unique player, for me it’s normal.”

Al Nassr coach Rudi Garcia said the signing of Ronaldo was a huge step for the Saudi Arabian league.

“In my life, I’ve seen that great players like Cristiano are the simplest to manage, because there’s nothing I can teach him,” Garcia told reporters.”Like he said, we are here to win, nothing else. I want him to enjoy playing with Al Nassr and winning with Al Nassr, just that.”

Ronaldo’s move has been the subject of countless rumours, with some reports saying his contract includes a clause which will allow him to join Newcastle United on loan, while others have alleged that the previous holder of the ‘Number 7’ shirt was cut loose from the squad for refusing to swap shirt numbers.

MG4 EV to be brand’s showstopper at Auto Expo 2023

The Auto Expo 2023 will be MG Motor’s second appearance at the biennial auto show. In its previous showing, MG’s stand at the Auto Expo was decidedly focused on SUVs, with models such as the Gloster, Hector Plus and Astor making their India debut.

This time, however, MG’s hero product will be an EV, and in hatchback body style no less. The MG4 electric hatchback will be the British carmaker’s most important unveil, along with face lifted versions of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs. Here’s a preview of all that you can expect from MG Motor at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023.

Both concepts will preview the brand’s Gen 2 and Gen 3 EV architecutre; the Punch EV will also be on display at the event.
Tata Motors will also take the opportunity to give the audience a sneak peek of its future models via the Curvv and the Avinya concepts.

Tata Motors took the wraps off the Curvv concept back in April last year. The Curvv concept essentially previews a future midsize coupe SUV – set to go on sale by 2024 – which will come with EV as well as ICE powertrain options. The Curvv concept gets sharp styling with striking, minimalist, yet futuristic cues, called “New Digital design language” by Tata, which will be seen in the brand’s future SUV line-up.

Kia Sorento 7-seater SUV to be showcased at Auto Expo 2023

The Sorento made its first India appearance at Auto Expo 2018 in its third-gen guise.

Kia will be showcasing the three-row Sorento SUV at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Currently in its fourth generation, which was globally unveiled in early 2020, the Sorento is essentially a cousin to the Hyundai Santa Fe. Globally, its positioned between the Kia Sportage (Tucson equivalent) and the flagship Telluride SUV.

Although a launch is not confirmed just yet, Kia will likely be showcasing the model to gauge customer interest in the three-row SUV. This, however, is not the first appearance of the SUV in India, as Kia had previously showcased the third-gen Sorento at the Auto Expo in 2018.

Kia Sorento: exterior and interior design

The fourth-gen Sorento has a familiar Kia family design, but it looks much bolder than the brand’s current crop of SUVs in India. Up front, there is Kia’s signature tiger nose grille that merges with the three-pod LED headlamps with ‘tiger eyeline’ LED DRLs. In contrast, the front bumper is smoothly sculpted and houses a large central air intake. In profile, the Sorento has a typical tall and upright SUV stance that’s accentuated by flared wheel arches. It gets vertical LED tail-lamps and a sharply sculpted tailgate at the rear.

On the inside, the Sorento bears a very close resemblance to the Sonet in India. It gets a high-mounted 10.25-inch central infotainment screen with vertical AC vents and a stack of HVAC controls positioned below. Like in the Sonet, the infotainment screen is connected to the instrument binnacle that houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Kia EV9 Concept teased for Auto Expo 2023 debut

Kia has dropped its first teaser for the upcoming Auto Expo 2023, confirming that it will showcase the EV9 electric concept SUV. Kia had first showcased the EV9 electric concept at the 2021 Los Angeles Motor Show and it is only expected to hit production globally by the end of 2023.

Kia EV9 concept: design and dimensions.

The Kia EV9 measures 4,929mm in length, 2,055mm in width and 1,790mm in height, which makes it nearly as large as a Range Rover. It has a wheelbase of 3,100mm, which is also the largest that can be achieved on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform – the same that underpins the Kia EV6 sold in India.
As far as design is concerned, the EV9 concept will have quite a few show car attributes. The face features a new interpretation of the signature ‘tiger nose’ grille with a blanked-out panel, sporting individual LED light modules and a Z-shaped headlamp cluster. It has a boxy and upright stance with crisp lines, flat surfaces and a large glasshouse with a sharp kink post the C-pillar. The rear features quirky, vertical LED tail lamps and a pronounced bumper.

New Kia Carnival to be showcased at Auto Expo 2023

All-new Carnival gets fresh styling, SUV like looks and is expected to come with the 2.2-liter diesel engine.

Kia is set to unveil the new Carnival at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. The fourth generation model, revealed globally in 2020, gets SUV-inspired styling and is larger than before.

  1. New Carnival gets 7-,9- and 11-seat options
  2. Gets 2.2-litre diesel engine
  3. Will rival the Toyota Innova Hycross

New Kia Carnival: fresh looks, more space

Kia has reduced the new Carnival’s front overhang, and pushed the A-pillar back to make the bonnet longer. Notable design elements along the profile include a prominent character line that runs the length of the MPV linking the head and tail-lights. It also gets a chrome fin for the C-pillar, and the A-, B- and D-pillars are finished in black, creating what Kia calls an ‘island roof’. At the rear, the Carnival gets LED tail-lights linked by a large LED light bar.
At 5,156mm in length, the new Carnival is longer than before, and significantly longer than the recently launched Toyota Innova Hycross.

New Kia Carnival: more features, multiple seating options

On the inside, the new Carnival features a more minimalist design with two 12.3-inch displays – one for the instrument cluster and another for the touchscreen infotainment taking the centre stage. The new cabin is even more practical with more storage spaces.

The new Carnival is loaded with features with higher spec variants getting features like three-zone climate control, powered front seats, wireless charger, premium sound system and safety equipment like lane departure warning, forward collision assist and multiple airbags.

In terms of seating layouts, globally, the new Carnival is offered in 7-, 9- and 11-seat configurations. The MPV has a longer wheelbase and rear overhang, translating into more space for rear rows.

Toyota GR Corolla hatchback to be showcased at Auto Expo 2023

The GR Corolla will be the first showcase of any GR-badged model in India.

The upcoming Auto Expo 2023 will be Toyota’s first appearance at the biennial auto show. And while the Innova Hycross and LC 300 will surely garner a lot of interest, enthusiasts might be piqued by the fact that Toyota is also going to showcase a GR (Gazoo Racing) model for the first time in India. Yes, Toyota will be showcasing the GR Corolla hatchback at the Auto Expo 2023.

  1. GR Corolla is powered by a 304hp, 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine
  2. Rivals the likes of Civic Type R and Golf R globally
  3. Toyota to also showcase several alternate fuel technologies at Auto Expo
While an India launch is not on the cards just yet, Toyota could use this opportunity to gauge people’s interest in GR models.

The real talking point about the GR Corolla is what’s under its hood. The hatchback is powered by 1.6-litre, three-cylinder, single-scroll turbocharged engine that produces as much as 304hp and 370Nm of peak torque – that’s nearly as powerful as a Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan with the latter having a larger 2.0-litre engine.

Toyota GR Corolla hatchback: exterior and interior

The GR Corolla gets a rally-inspired makeover over the standard hatchback that includes black trim details, a larger front grille with wider air intakes, heavily flared wheel arches, air ducts on the bumpers and fenders, a pronounced rear diffuser, sportier alloys and a prominent rear wing. That’s matched by motorsport-inspired tweaks to the cabin, including a leather-trimmed GR steering wheel, GR-badged seats and aluminum pedals.

Stopping Production Leaving Dealers Stranded. American motorcycle manufacturer UM Motorcycles has put a stop to all its India operations because of a dispute with its domestic joint venture partner Lohia Auto.

It has invested 100 crores in a plant at Kashipur, Uttarakhand capable of producing 5000 units a month, and is headquartered in New Delhi. The brand retails in India under the UM Lohia brand name and started operations in 2016.

Auto Expo 2023: Asia’s largest automobile exhibition Auto Expo 2023

SIAM which organises the Auto Expo is in negotiations with automakers to participate in Expo. It is also working on special strategies and packages, so companies take interest in Expo.

Companies have seen that there is less increase in the number of visitors compared to 2016, 2018, and 2020 which doesn’t allow them to put a big investment in the Auto Expo. Also, companies feel that the venue is far from the city and Pragati Maidan would have attracted more visitors than India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.

The incident happened after a new year storm left around 3ft of fresh snowfall on the ground, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said in a press conference.

A family member driving Renner’s car had got stuck in the snow near his house, the sheriff said. Using his snow plough, Renner successfully towed the car free.

He then got out to talk to his relative, but the snow plough began to move while empty.

Renner was trying to get back into the driver’s seat to stop it moving, when the “extremely large” piece of equipment ran him over, Mr Balaam said.

Jeremy Renner The PistenBully weighs at least 14,330lb, he said. The average weight of a car, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency, is 4,289lb (2 tonnes).

“An eyewitness detailed seeing Mr Renner getting into the PistenBully and not seeing him again until the PistenBully came to a rest in a pile of snow in front of his driveway,” Mr Balaam said.

Jeremy Renner still in critical condition.

Before the accident Renner was reportedly clearing a road outside his home in Reno, Nevada using his personal snow plough so his family could get out after a heavy storm.

The 51-year-old was the only person involved in the incident, the Washoe County Sheriff’s office said, adding that it was being investigated.
